Marawi siege victims can now file claims via e-filing system

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) — The Marawi Compensation Board (MCB) announced that claimants affected by the Marawi siege can now file their compensation claims through an e-filing system.

This digital option aims to make the claim process more accessible for those facing difficulties filing in person due to medical conditions, people who are residing or working abroad during the one-year claim prescriptive period mandated by R.A. 11696, persons with disabilities (PWD), senior citizens, or pregnant individuals, and other various reasons.

Claimants can file applications by completing the MCB form for the electronic filing of claims through their official website, https://mcb.gov.ph/.

The MCB is urging individuals to submit applications for compensation on or before July 3, 2024.

The MCB began accepting applications in July 2023 for claims such as structural property, death, and personal property. According to the MCB, over a month after the opening, approximately 12,000 people have expressed interest in filing claims.

Victims who lost their homes during the Marawi siege are eligible to receive compensation of either P18,000 per square meter for totally damaged structures or P12,000 per square meter for partially damaged structures. The MCB also provides P350,000 to the families of individuals who lost their lives during the siege.

Earlier this monththe MCB announced that it had disbursed payments to 94 death claimants and 49 claimants for multiple damages, totaling P207 million. (OSG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
