TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, March 19 - Angel Khalilah M. Zaragosa, a Grade  10  student  of  Bato  School  of Fisheries,  this province, won  the  2017  Regional  Civil Registration  Quiz (RCRQ)  conducted recently by the Philippine  Statistics  Authority – Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA-RSSO VIII) at  the Corridor’s  Rest Hauz, Hinundayan, Southern Leyte.

Zaragosa, who emerged as regional champ, bested 20 other contestants from different secondary schools in Eastern Visayas after scoring 22 out of 30 questions administered in three rounds. 

Completing the top three winners are: Ryan M. Yepes of Macrohon Institute-Jose K. Demetrio Learning Foundation Inc. (Second Place) and Eva Mae O. Aldeon of New Ormoc City National High School (Third Place).

Winners were awarded with cash prizes, certificates, and PSA tokens.

The board of judges were composed of PSA Regional Director Wilma A. Perante; Ms. Anesia Babante, PSA Civil Registration and Administration Services Division Chief; and Mr. Marlon O. Morallos, President of the Eastern  Visayas  Federation  of Provincial  Associations  of  Civil Registrars (EVFPACR).

The contest is conducted yearly to increase knowledge of students on civil registration and encourage  youth participation  in  the  global  advocacy  of  getting  everyone  registered  and  in promoting awareness on the importance of civil registration in the lives of every Filipino.

The RCRQ is one of the highlights of this year’s Civil Registration Month (CRM) celebration in the region conducted in coordination with EVFPACR.

This year’s CRM banners the theme, "Pilipinong Rehistrado, Matatag na Kinabukasan ay Sigurado." (ldl/PSA-8/PIA-8)
