BUTUAN CITY, Mar. 20 (PIA) -- The Commission on Population (POPCOM) Caraga staff together with their respective partners enhanced their knowledge on nurturing harmonious relationships in the family and strengthened their commitments to each other by participating actively in the Marriage Enrichment Seminar held in this city, as part of the organization’s gender and development initiative among POPCOM employees.
Director Alexander A. Makinano of POPCOM Caraga reiterated the importance of having a good relationship within the family and community. “Maintaining a smooth relationship with others, especially within the family, is very challenging to every couple. To preserve the sanctity of marriage, respect, trust and love must be nurtured,” Makinano asserted.
The POPCOM official also emphasized that there will be harmony and unity in the society if every family performs their roles in improving their lives and the community as a whole.
Said activity was conducted to intensify its advocacy on Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP), thereby extending among POPCOM Caraga staff and their respective partners as advocates of the program.
The concept on gender and development is clearly emphasized in the RPFP program of POPCOM, as it is a gender responsive strategy which aims to assist parents, couples and individuals realize their desired number, timing and spacing of children.
The core strategy of this program is the conduct of RPFP sessions or classes directed at couples and parents at the barangay level. Sessions tackle the concepts of marriage and other forms of family relations; elements of good marriage; home management; responsible parenting; and the importance and benefits of Family Planning and decision-making for couples.
