CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Feb. 13(PIA) - - Beautiful ladies wearing the finest Kalinga woven dresses wowed the audience in the tapestry fashion show opening this year’s Kalinga Treasures Trade Fair on Friday here.
Aimed to promote the province’s native apparel, beauties were chosen to model Kalinga’s woven suits and accessories crafted from indigenous colorful materials.
Aurora Sanet of the Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Offic that spearheaded the event, reported that the fashion show takes center stage in the ten-day trade fair from February 10-19 as part of the 22nd Kalinga Founding Anniversary and 1st Bodong Festival celebration.
This year, 99 exhibitors display their hometown products from the line of native woven items, furniture, gifts & souvenirs, homewards, ornamentals with their partners from the agriculture sector with their organically grown produce.
As a practice, organizers had invited guest-exhibitors from the provinces of Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet and Baguio City.
Sanet expressed optimism to exceed last year’s sales performance reaching P6.4 million .
Under DTI’s product development and marketing promotion, organizers will conduct search for special awards among exhibitors .
To add fun and excitement, various cultural dance troupes are invited in the exhilarating Banga Dance competition scheduled evening of Feb. 17. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
