AGUSAN DEL SUR, Apr. 20 (PIA) - "We must think as one to justify the result of this workshop."

This was the statement of Governor Adolph Edward Plaza in his message during the Rubber Industry Cluster Roadmap Localization Workshop held recently at Mabe’s Savory Place, San Francisco, this province.

Gov. Plaza opted that the accreditation process of nurseries be simplified.  He exhorted both public and private industry stakeholders to draft the best roadmap for the rubber industry in the region and present the same for support by the national government.  Doing so, he said will greatly aid the rubber farmers.

The governor also expressed his advocacy of empowering and giving voice to the farmers to have their needs addressed.  This includes a review of technical processes vis-à-vis actual needs of the industry.

The workshop was intended to create a regional rubber industry roadmap.

In attendance during said activity were some of the industry cluster’s (IC) prime movers: Dr. Ismael Elevazo, chair of Caraga Rubber Industry Federation, Inc. (CRIFI), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Rubber IC coordinator and assistant regional director Lolita Dorado, together with representatives from enabling agencies – National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Upland Sustainable Agri-forestry Development (USAD) project team, Provincial Agriculture Office, VPO-Rosario Agro-Industrial Development Corporation, farmer cooperatives and individual growers.

Some 70 stakeholders attended said event, which was jointly organized by DTI-Caraga and DTI-Agusan del Sur Provincial Office. (DTI-Agusan del Sur/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
