ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, February 17 (PIA) --The municipality of Angono spearheaded by the Office of the Mayor, Municipal Health Office, Philippine Blood Center and Kalinisan Katauhan Kapayapaan Office (KKK) Office recently initiated a bloodletting program wherein 117 locals donated.
The said activity was held in line with the town’s celebration of National Arts Month at the Bloomingdale Court, Brgy. San Pedro last February 12.
KKK Office Head Lita Bartolome said about 188 people initially volunteered to have their blood tested and donated but only 117 passed due to low hemoglobin levels or signs of hypertension.
"It was a Bloodletting cum Arts Month Celebration made possible in partnership with the University of Rizal System.” said Bartolome as she thanked participants including students in the said event.
Prior to the event the KKK Office in partnership with Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity - Marikina Chapter also conducted a bloodletting acitivity in Parang, Marikina last January 15.
The municipality of Angono and the KKK Office has received the Apolinario Mabini Award from the Department of Health and Philippine Blood Center for the past two years. The said award is given to institutions which donate more than 100 bags of blood. (PIA-Rizal with reports from Angono PIO)
