MANILA, March 11 (PIA) - Concert at the Park proudly features a friendship concert featuring the visiting group from Japan, the Worldship Orchestra and the Manila Symphony Orchestra, this Sunday, March 12, 2017. Hosted by Ms. Aretha Angcao, the free concert will start at 6:00 p.m. at the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium.
The Worldship Orchestra (WSO) from Japan is founded by Akihide Noguchi. The group aims to cater free classical concerts for the children in the Philippines and other Asian countries. WSO also gives free music workshop for children in different schools and institutions. The group dreams a future in which all the children will have the chance to involve themselves in music particularly in orchestra education in their local community for life skill enhancement. They also explore around Manila to meet hundreds of children and give them chance to join, sing along and conduct with the orchestra members onstage.
The Manila Symphony Orchestra is one of the first orchestras established in Asia. It is currently the most vibrant and active symphony orchestra in the Philippines.
For this Sunday, the concert under the baton of conductor Ippei Sakuma will present movie sound tracks, La Danse Macabre by Saint Saens, Carmen Suites by Bizet and many more.
Concert at the Park, is the longest running weekly public service project of the National Parks Development Committee and the Department of Tourism. Since 1978, the cultural production aims to bring music closer to the people. (NPDC/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
