PIA to install more kiosks in WV
ILOILO CITY, April 21 (PIA6) --- The Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-6 will install more information kiosks in various places of convergence and strategic locations in Western Visayas.
PIA-6 Regional Director Atty. Ma. Janet Mesa said an information kiosk will be launched in Antique in time for the opening ceremony of the 60th edition of the Palarong Pambansa.
“The PIA info kiosk will be opened at the Evelio B. Javier Gymnasium in the Binirayan Sports Complex in San Jose, prior to the opening program of the Palarong Pambansa on April 23,” she said.
She said reports indicate that some 12,000 to 15,000 participants including athletes, chaperones, teachers, coaches, Department of Education (DepEd) officials, and other guests are expected to arrive in Antique for the national event.
She emphasized that this will be a good opportunity to provide information to enable locals and visitors in Antique learn to more about ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).
She said the kiosks will contain information materials on ASEAN history, community pillars, and the objectives of the Philippine chairmanship.
“A number of people are still not aware of ASEAN and we are trying to make people know more about this organization thru the PIA kiosk,” she said.
She said that information, education and communication (IEC) materials from other national government agencies and local government units will also be available at the info kiosk.
PIA-6 has already installed six PIA kiosks in Region 6; two in Aklan at the Kalibo International Airport and D’Mall at Boracay Island; three in Iloilo at SM City, Robinsons Place, and at the Iloilo International Airport; and one in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental at SM City.
“PIA is also planning to launch information kiosks in Capiz soon,” she said.
She added that more kiosks will be put-up in other locations in Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental. These will include schools and local government units. (JCM/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
