CAMIGUIN, March 20 (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 10 is set to release the first rice subsidy allocated for the month of January to the 5,812 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (Pantawid Pamilya) beneficiaries in Camiguin province on March 22-24.

Gina Estaniel, provincial link, said that the P600 (per month) rice subsidy will be added to the regular Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) budget per beneficiary given that the conditions on health and education were complied.

“Sa education pananglitan, kinahanglan nga nagtungha gyud sa eskwelahan ang mga bata sa miaging bulan. Kung naka-absent man gani, dili pud hurot tibuok bulan; mga isa o duha lang ka adlaw absent,” Estaniel added.

(For an instance in education, the children should have attended school in the previous month. If they have absences, it should not be throughout the month; one or two absences can still be considered)

For the next payout, Estaniel said that a total of P1,200 will be given to each beneficiary covering the months of February and March.

The rice subsidy allocation just took effect on January 2017.

Following the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July 2016, the rice subsidy aims to address the problem on hunger of the poor households.(RTP/PIA10)
