CABARROGUIS, Quirino, March 16 (PIA)-- The Department of Science & Technology (DOST)  regional office, through its Provincial Science and Technology Center here, recently conducted a two day  Science and Technology Caravan in Aglipay town with the theme "Science for the People".

Provincial Director Lucio Calimag said the caravan was attended not only by the Aglipayanos but also some residents from nearby towns. 

The two day S&T caravan was highlighted with various activities such as exhibits from the different SET-UP adaptors in Cabarroguis and Aglipay, presentation of different DOST programs and services through S&T fora, livelihood trainings, S&T services and consultancy.

Calimag said DOST Regional Director Sancho Mabborang has personally awarded projects under the Grant-In-Aid (GIA) program.

Some of these projects include STARBOOKS, Automatic Weather Station for Maddela, complementary food for the children aged 6 to 23,  months, dairy for Nagtipunan, technology center for Maddela, coffee processing machine and vaccum fryer for QSU Diffun, among others.

"A livelihood project worth P100,000.00 under the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology was also awarded to Sangbay in Nagtipunan," Calimag added.

Training workshops on Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety, cassava processing, home care and alternative renewable energy (biogas, solar) were also conducted. (ALM/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
