TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, March 4 (PIA) - - Cagayano athletes maintained the championship cup as they ruled again in the recently concluded Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association (CAVRAA) meet held in Ilagan City, Isabela.
Cagayan delegates were declared over-all champion for they have won 95 gold, 80 silver and 91 bronze medals in the final medal tally heading way among nine competing schools divisions.
Isabela athletes placed second with 83 golds, 57 silvers, 89 bronzes; Nueva Vizcaya in the 3rd spot with 51 golds, 58 silvers and 81 bronzes; followed by Santiago City (4th placer) with 40 golds, 29 silvers and 32 bronzes; the host city of Ilagan (5th) with 38 golds, 53 silvers and 39 bronzes; Quirino (6th) 29 golds, 41 silvers and 41 bronzes; Tuguegarao City (7th) with 24 golds, 36 silvers and 60 bronzes; Cauayan City (8th) with 8 golds, 15 silvers and 18 bronzes and Batanes (9th) with 2 golds, 1 silvers and 3 bronzes.
Ferdinand Narciso, information officer of the Department of Education (DepEd), said this year's regional athletic meet went smoothly as he admired the sportmanship showed by all players.
He said Tuguegarao City, which supposedly the host for this year's CAVRAA but passed the responsibility to Ilagan City due to the massive destruction brought about by super typhoon ‘Lawin’ to the city's facilities and other structures, has accepted the challenge of hosting the next year's regional meet.
