TRECE MARTIRES, Cavite, April 21 (PIA) -- After careful planning and collaborative study, the City Government of Imus in partnership with the City government of Huanggang, China and other private investors will soon commence operations of the Imus Polytechnic Institute, the first ever skills training center in the city.

The institute is strategically located in a three storey building along Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay Anabu, beside City Mall-Imus, aims to extend high-quality technical education to the young Imuseños and to give the industrial companies in Cavite highly trained and knowledgeable technical employees.

Projected to be a “Center of Excellence” for technical learning and skills training, the school is dedicated for the youth of Imus but also welcomes students from all over the province as well.

To achieve said “excellence” in the technical field, the institute will implement the Dual Training System (DTS) program wherein in-plant and in-school training will be the system of teaching to integrate the labor market requirement.

In addition, the courses offered are equally adaptive to the standards and current programs of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which means that each student/trainee is required to finish the course in three or until six months of learning and training before he/she is hired by the company or the industrial plant affiliated with IPI.

Mayor Maliksi announced that IPI initially will offer four courses, namely: Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II; Technical Drafting NC II; Mechatronics Program NC II; Instrumentation Servicing NC II.

Additional courses will be added over the years in accordance with the need and capability of partner institutions that will be decided and formulated by the Board of Trustees that will be created for the institute.

Likewise, the city government is hopeful to have a soft opening in August of this year depending on the curriculum and other operational requirements.

The opening of this institute serves as a solid example of Mayor Maliksi’s thrust and support for priority programs on education including all other facilities built and given to public schools in the city.

With knowledge and skills, employees can easily land a job that could equip them to provide for their families which would boost the growth and development of the economy and the community they live in, Mayor Maliksi further explained.
