ILOILO CITY, April 22 (PIA6) - - The provincial office of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Guimaras conducted a dry run to ensure that respondents understand the importance of the 2016 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) and how to fill-up the questionnaire.
PSA-Guimaras Chief Statistical Specialist Nelida Losare said the ASPBI Workshop, Respondents’ Forum & Data Dissemination on Friday, April 21, 2017 paved a common venue for discussion among the thirteen sample establishments from various industries in the province covered by the survey.
She said aside from the dry-run on how to fill up the ASPBI questionnaire through a workshop, the one-day activity also clarified issues and concerns related to the conduct of the survey and in dissemination of the 2014 ASPBI & Survey of Tourism Establishments in the Philippines (STEP).
“Respondents were given idea on how the results of the surveys were released, disseminate and presented in the form of a summarized tables and graphs, and that no identity of an establishment is unveiled,” said Losare.
Also discussed during the activity were the importance of the data that the respondents are providing, which are primarily used in the estimation of the regional and national accounts giving a clear picture of the region’s economy and of the country as a whole.
The results of the regional and national accounts estimation would guide planners and policy makers in crafting appropriate programs and policies that would uplift the lives of every Filipino.
Losare said addressing of questionnaires began on April 10, 2017 and distribution of those to sample establishments followed since the 17th of the same month.
“Unabridged cooperation and sustenance of the owner/manager of sample establishments in providing truthful and reliable data are paramount to the successful conduct of the survey and attainment of its objectives,” said Losare.
The ASPB is a designated statistical undertaking of the PSA aimed at collecting and generating information on the levels, structure, performance and trends of economic activities of the formal sector of the economy in the entire province. (JCM/laf/PIA6-Iloilo)
