NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, June 21 (PIA) -- Early morning rain did not stop some 1,800 registered walkers, runners, and bikers to sweat it out Sunday morning for the 1st Provincial Fun Walk, Run and Bike.

From three take off points, all the participants converged at the Provincial Capitol for the awarding and “Hataw” exercise that capped the activity.

The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO), together with the Bantay Bata 163 Foundation of ABS-CBN, organized the fun-filled activity that was participated by as young as four-year-old Jullian Tejilla, who won the youngest runner award and Romeo Reyes, 71, who bagged the oldest runner award.

“Let us continue to use greener mode of transportation, continue to green our forests, and continue to blue our seas,” Lawyer Aleta Nuñez, PEM officer urged participants.

The 303rd Infantry Brigade was awarded the biggest contingent award.

PEMO and Bantay Bata were able to raise P36,440 from the P20 registration fee collected from the participants.*(JCM/EAD-PIA6, Negros Occidental)
