DUMAGUETE CITY, Aug 3 (PIA ) -- The Tourism Office of Negros Oriental spearheads the formulation and crafting of the Provincial Tourism Development Plan and Roadmap.

This is in collaboration with the Department of Tourism (DOT) Central and Regional Offices, Tourism Infrastructure Economic Zone Authority (TIEZA) and the Tourism Educators Council of Negros Oriental & Siquijor (TECNOS).

The DOT planning team, together officials from TIEZA and Puerto Princesa City, Palawan and Bohol Tourism councils and offices, will visit the province on August 8 – 9 to conduct the Tourism Strategic Planning Seminar-Workshop at the Sidlakang Negros Village Conference Hall, Dumaguete City, Provincial Tourism Officer Myla Mae Bromo-Abellana said.

At least 25 local government units (LGUs) in the province and heads of the different tourism industry stakeholders and partners are invited to participate in the seminar- workshop, Abellana added.

Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo wrote Tourism Secretary Mon Jimenez and Undersecretary Danny Corpuz in December 2011 requesting technical assistance for the crafting and formulation of the tourism roadmap of the province.

With this, DOT Manila and Cebu responded to hold the planning workshop in July but moved it to next week due to conflict of schedules of the speakers.

The crafting and formulation of the tourism development plan and roadmap is a long way process, the strategic planning workshop is only the first step, the tourism officer said.

Abellana expresses her appreciation to the three lawmakers in Negros Oriental namely, Representatives Jocelyn Limkaichong, George Arnaiz and Pryde Henry Teves for their support and assistance extended to her office and the tourism industry in the province. (mbcn/JCT-PIA7 Negros Oriental)
