DPWH-Leyte gives share in observance of NDPR Week
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, July 28 (PIA) -- During the recently concluded 34th National Disability Prevention Rehabilitation (NDPR) week, last July 17-23, Department of Public Works and Highways-Leyte conducted several activities to mark the event.
The theme of the celebration is “Mainstreaming Persons with Disabilities in Economic Development.”
Engr. Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez, head of DPWH–Leyte, 4th Engineering District said that aside from the display of streamers, persons with disabilities (PWDs) were invited and entertained at the office and given orientation on the functions and services the office is currently extending.
T-shirts were distributed to the PWDs and picture taking took place together with Asst. Dist. Engr. Erwin L. Antonio and the staff, Gonzalez added.
Relative to this, in an ongoing construction of a covered walk at the DPWH office, a ramp specifically for PWDs is also being constructed.
DPWH is also one of the agencies assigned to inspect if constructed buildings implement BP 344, otherwise known as the Accessibility Law for Disabled Persons.
Meanwhile, the observance of NDPR week aims to ensure that all persons with disabilities are given equal opportunities in all aspects of human endeavors.
The observance was also participated by other government agencies and non-government organizations. (EOPT/MAA-PIA8)
