CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, June 21 (PIA) -- The 43rd Infantry Battalion stationed in Matuguinao, Samar participated in the town’s 47th founding anniversary on June 19 through a medical and dental mission.

Mayor Melissa dela Cruz told PIA 8-Samar that those who patronized the dental and medical mission exceeded their target. Even prescription pads became insufficient for the crowd of Matuguinao folks.

Dr. Rochelyn Pagpagitan, Municipal Health Officer (MHO) led the team of six doctors who attended to the patients.

The medical mission offered check-ups, tooth extraction, circumcision, and even haircuts. The local government unit and the Army contributed medicines for the mission.

Dela Cruz thanked the Army for the event. She too, vowed to have another similar activity to ensure that all her constituents will be served.

She is also thankful that the Department of Health has given her one committed and dedicated Doctor to the Barrios (DTTB) as her Municipal Health Officer (MHO).

An unidentified patient even had a minor operation where an imbedded bullet from a previous injury was removed.

The 43rd IB under commanding officer Lt. Col. Angel Madarang has been assigned in Matuguinao for barely two weeks after it exchanged places with the 14th IB which was re-deployed to Oras, Eastern Samar. (NBQ-PIA8 Samar with reports from Emy Bonifacio)
