PNP-Southern Leyte commends police officers
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, July 10 (PIA) -- The Philippine National Police-Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (PNP-SLPPO) through the leadership of Director PSSupt. Allan T. Cuevillas commended police officers from the city of Maasin and the town of Malitbog.
In a press statement sent to the Philippine Information Agency-Maasin, Police Superintendent Jonathan Pineda informed that at least 13 policemen were given commendation from the Malitbog Municipal Police Station headed by PSInsp. Delfin D. Tan and eight police officers from Maasin City Police Station led by Chief of Police PSupt. Rico L. Tome.
The police officers were commended due to the successful operations in arresting drug pushers in their locality, Police Community Relations Officer Pineda disclosed. They received a commendation letter from the PNP officials to acknowledge their accomplishments.
The commendation was conducted during the traditional Monday flag-raising ceremony at the Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office at the Camp Alfredo K. Bantug, Capitol Site, Maasin City and was cited by PSSupt. Cuevillas along with the provincial staff officers, Pineda said in his report.
He said that the Malitbog police officers apprehended an illegal drug operator last June 14, which resulted to the filing of criminal charges in court against the suspect, a well-known drug pusher in the area.
The Maasin City Police Station police personnel also apprehended a suspected drug personality last June 6 at Barangay Tawid, this city.
The said suspects violated Section 5, Article 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Pineda said that the accomplishment has proven the strong determination of the policemen to enforce the law without fear nor favor, and in compliance with existing orders to eliminate all forms of lawlessness, particularly illegal drugs in the province of Southern Leyte. (PIA8-Southern Leyte)
