PRC collects 123 bags of blood on Blood Donor’s Month kickoff ceremony
PAGADIAN CITY, July 12 (PIA) --The Philippine National Red Cross – Zamboanga del Sur chapter collected 123 bags or 55,350 cc of different blood types, during the kickoff activity of the Blood Donor’s Month at the City Commercial Center here.
Administrator Hildaliza Muñoz said the blood was collected from walk-in donors, Department of Agrarian Reform employees, and 53rd Infantry “Matapat” battalion and 5th IB officers and men.
Muñoz said July has been declared as Blood Donor’s Month under Presidential Proclamation No. 1021 issued June 9, 1997. This year’s theme is “Every Blood Donor is a Hero.”
The administrator said July is a special moth where people will share their blood to help those in need, especially the poor.
“During this month, we will also give recognition to our blood donors who are actively supporting the mass blood donation program of the agency and this will be done during the culmination day,” Muñoz added.
She also thanked all stakeholders who made unselfish sacrifices for the benefit of many and said the blood they have given will save the lives of others.
“I would like to express my profound thanks to all stakeholders specially the national and local government offices, civic organizations, and volunteers for actively supporting the activities. I’m certain that without them the activities will not be successfully conducted,” Muñoz said.
She also expressed gratitude to the active support extended by Aisah Hospital, Black Moon Riders, Demolay, Jamelarin Hospital, Pagadian Emergency Communication Services, Inc, Pagadian Metro Lions Club, Velocity Colours Team, ZAMSURECO-1 and Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center for joining the motorcade in the city’s major thoroughfares.
Muñoz said if people in the barangays will donate their blood regularly, they would no longer ask blood replacement from their clients because there will be enough supply in their blood bank. (ALT/GCC/PIA9-ZamboSur)
