Parents clean school in support of anti-dengue campaign, Brigada Eskwela
KIANGAN, Ifugao, July 2 (PIA) -- Two hundred fifty parents of a private school here converged this weekend and cleaned the surroundings, made some minor repairs, and painted the classrooms in support of the clean and green program and Brigada Eskwela of government.
Gemma Cantes, the school principal of the St. Joseph’s School here, said the support shown by the parents is a manifestation of their concern for their children against the dreaded disease caused by the dengue-carrying mosquito.
The parents also want a comfortable classroom for their children, thus, they painted their classrooms and made some repairs, she said.
Led by their president Vency Bulayungan, the parents also did landscaping and beautification as they planted herbal and ornamental plants, painted the roofs of the shed, and fenced the pathway to prevent accidents.
A student here died two years ago due to dengue and this is still a threat to this community as the rainy season begun.
