Lagawe allocates P1-M Gotad grand prize for public market
LAGAWE, Ifugao, July 9 -- The town officials here intend to use the local government unit's (LGU) prize of P1 million for the extension of the public market.
The prize came as the LGU emerged as the overall winner in the events in the recently held Ifugao Day celebration.
Mayor Ceasario Cabbigat said in an interview that the said amount will be added to their prize of P1 million last year (2011) for the said purpose.
The LGU is the over-all winner for three consecutive years for contested events in the annual celebration of Ifugao Day dubbed “Gotad ad Ifugao.”
Cabbigat disclosed that Congressman Teddy Baguilat Jr will also give P3 million from his Priority Development Assistance Fund for the completion of the said project, which is now for bidding.
Senator Chiz Escudero also allocated P500,000 for the perimeter road of the public market.
On the other hand, Barangays Jucbong, Abinuan, Montabiong, Buyabuyan and Banga will receive also electricity from the Department of Energy, a joint project of the office of Congressman Teddy Baguilat Jr and the LGU-Lagawe. The mayor said that Baguilat will also assist in the opening of the road leading to the dumpsite located between Jucbong and Montabiong boundary.
He also mentioned that the construction of the senior citizens' building, in the amount of P500,000, started last month. The funds came from Vice President Jejomar Binay.
For the third quarter, P6 million will be equally divided to the 20 barangays of Lagawe to fund their priority projects. (VDB PIA-CAR/IFUGAO)
