2 gov't agencies hold 1st provincial rubber industry forum in MisOr
OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental, June 22 (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA), in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), conducted the 1st Provincial Rubber Industry Forum in the city recently.
The activity was aimed at giving the rubber growers and farm technicians the latest developments and other information about the rubber industry in Misamis Occidental.
As it is, DA helps the farmers in the development of agricultural products, while DTI takes charge of finding a market for these products, one of which is rubber.
Jose Satore, provincial agriculturist, said Misamis Occidental is now planning to go into rubber tree farming, just like its neighbor, the province of Zamboanga Sibugay.
This is because of the huge potential for the rubber industry that can be of great economic help to the Misamisnons, aside from the protection of the environment.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Rubber Growers Association has been organized during the forum, with the following elected officers: Dr. Arthur Ananoria from Ororquieta City, President, Dr. Ellen Galon from Aloran, Vice President; Remedios Pagasian from Sapang Dalaga, Secretary; Lilia Beniga from Jimenez, Treasurer; Danilo Sayre from Calamba, Auditor; Ricardo Intog and Natalio Paigan from Tudela, P.R.O.; and former Vice Governor Francisco Paylaga, Adviser.
Satore said the association will assist the DA in the implementation of projects and programs of the rubber industry, while its members will be given the opportunity to avail of financial assistance for the industry in the province. (PIO/PIA 10, Mis. Occ.)
