4ID pays tribute to soldier-athlete

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City, June 11 -- A trooper of the fourth infantry division was honored during the flag-raising ceremony here today.

Corporal Ronaldo Salon assigned with the 4th Post Engineer Detachment (4PED) participated in the National Wrestling Competition held in Dumaguete City, May 26 to June 3, where he won the Gold Medal in Greco Roman 120 kg Category and Silver in Freestyle 120-kg category.

Sixty aspiring wrestlers participated in the National Wrestling Competition and Salon had to face several opponents to prove his worth. He is a consistent wrestling participant and has been consistently been winning medals.

Salon expressed his gratitude to the 4ID leadership for the support given to him during the competition.

MGen. Victor A. Felix Commander, 4ID said, “I would like to express my admiration to your soldiers who are exemplary in the sports they participated in. This shows that your soldiers are jacks of all trades - they are not only soldiers who are master in combat, they can also do other things such as competing in sport event excellently.”
