DIPO Eastern Mindanao turns over motorboat, lifesaving vests to PRO-10
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Aug 1 -- Police director Felicisimo V. Khu, Jr of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Eastern Mindanao turned over one motorboat and 15 lifesaving vests to Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 last July 31.
The ceremony was made at the covered court of Barangay Macabalan, where PCSupt. Catalino B. Rodriguez, Jr, deputy regional director for administration, formally accepted the symbolic key from Khu.
The motorboat will be used by the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) of the Philippine National Police to boost its search and rescue capabilities, particularly in times of natural calamities such as typhoons and severe flooding. It is a rapid deployment unit tasked to assist provincial and city police offices during emergencies and special events when needed.
Last February 6 and 11, PRO-10 completed the six-day trainor’s training on disaster preparedness. Participants consisted of the different members of barangay peacekeeping action teams and police officers of provincial and city police offices, as well as of RPSB.
After completing the course, they were required to re-echo their new acquired skills to the different police stations in the province, with the assistance of local government units. (PSupt. Ronnie Francis M. Cariaga/PRO/PIA10)
