Electric coop donates painting materials for Tagum's school chairs program

TAGUM CITY, July 3 (PIA) -- The Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative donated 161 gallons of painting materials in support to the city's “Care for School Chairs Program”.

The turnover of the P100,000-worth painting materials during the June 25 flag raising ceremony in the Tagum City Hall grounds was facilitated by DANECO’s general manager Felix Hibionada and city budget officer Dean Briz. It was accepted by Mayor Rey Uy.

The mayor said the donated painting materials can cover 2,000 chairs.

“It is the second time that DANECO had donated same kind of materials and it would be a great help on sustaining the project,” Uy said.

The city chief hailed DANECO’s support for the program and for their concern to the students while challenging them also “to lift up to their promise of providing better service for the consumers,” after they were successfully enlisted under the Cooperative Development Authority.

The fabricated chairs will be distributed to public elementary and secondary schools that are in need.

The “Care for School Chairs Program” program, a brainchild of the mayor, benefited different schools in Davao Region and also those in Luzon, specifically in Municipality of Talisay, Batangas, and Municipality of Camiling, Tarlac.

A total of 49,482 pieces of school furniture was already distributed by the Local Government of Tagum since August 2011. (Louie Jay Losaria of CIO Tagum)
