DOLE lines up activities for NDPR Week
DAVAO CITY, July 13 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) this year takes the frontline in staging the 34th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week celebration which banners the theme, “ Mainstreaming Persons with Disabilities in Economic Development.”
After the final inter-agency meeting Friday last week, DOLE Regional Dir. Joffrey Suyao this week released the lined-up activities for the celebration in Davao City.
As part of the activities scheduled, government agencies and non-government organizations are expected to hang streamers starting July 13, drumming up observance of the celebration.
On July 14, a caravan will be staged at Roxas Avenue in Davao City to issue identification cards to 100 persons with disabilities and solo parents.
A mass for PWDs will be held on July 15 at Saint Paul Parish in Davao City.
To start off the week-long NDPR Week celebration, concerned agencies are enjoined to attend the flag raising ceremony on July 15, in front of Davao City Hall where the proclamation of the 34th NDPR week will be read. A motorcade will follow.
Series of activities involving PWDs will then be held during the NDPR Week.
Among these are the Pag-asa Games on July 17; career and employment advocacy, forum on entrepreneurship of PWDs, testimonies of PWD successes and mini-show on July 18; skills registration, health day and Regional employment and livelihood summit, dance and singing contest on July 19; and job fair on July 20.
Local government units are also expected to organize their respective activities in observance of the NDPR Week. (PIA-11/ Jeanevive Duron-Abangan)
