Barangay officials, workers of Ifugao town to receive additional cash assistance

LAMUT, Ifugao, June 8 (PIA) -- Barangay officials and workers in this municipality are set to receive more benefits with the approval of an ordinance granting them additional cash assistance.

Mayor Francisco P. Tenenan Sr. said that the additional help is in cognizant to the dedication of these workers in providing healthy, peaceful, and improved quality of life in their respective areas of responsibility.

“Barangay officials and workers are the front liners in providing basic services to the community namely health care, peace and order and barangay welfare. The magnitude of work and services relies heavily on their manpower so there’s a need to reciprocate their efforts,” Tenenan said.

The ordinance, introduced by Sangguniang Bayan members Ferdinand Dulinayan and Adryan Chaguile, will grant additional cash assistance to barangay elected officials, treasurers, secretaries, day care and health workers, utility and barangay “tanods” for medical, hospitalization and death assistance.

Under the ordinance, in case of any illness or injury requiring hospitalization, which incapacitates the worker to carry out his or her work, an amount of P2,000 shall be extended.

For injuries whether slight or serious incurred while in the performance of duty that need medical attention but do not require hospitalization, an amount of P600 will be extended, or the amount of medicine, whichever is lower.

Furthermore, in case of death due to any kind of illness or injury whether out or in the tour of duty, a cash assistance in the amount of P3,000 shall be extended to his immediate family provided that the injury or death was not caused by notorious acts.

Hospitalization and medical assistance may be availed of only once a year and not simultaneously. However, death assistance may be availed of simultaneously with hospitalization and medical assistance.

The municipal social welfare and development office was tasked to implement the ordinance in accordance to its provisions. (MBL – PIA CAR, Ifugao)
