LAGAWE, Ifugao, June 27 (PIA) -- The Commission on Election (COMELEC)-Ifugao announced the suspension registration and validation of registration of voters in the province from June 25 to July 31, 2012.

This is to give way to the general registration of voters in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) scheduled on July 9 to July 18, 2012 where the local municipal election officers have been tapped to give manpower and technical support to the ARMM registration, said Provincial Election Supervisor (PES) lawyer Ricardo Bolintao,

Bolintao said no applications for registration of voters and validation of registration records shall be received on the said dates but all municipal COMELEC offices remain open.

Bolintao announced that that the registration and validation of voters will resume in the different municipalities in Ifugao on August 1 - October 31.

The system of continuing registration of voters and validation of registration records in the non-ARMM areas from April 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 is provided for under Comelec Resolution No. 9149 promulgated on Feb. 11, 2011. This is part of efforts to establish a clean, complete, permanent, and updated list of voters through the adoption of biometrics technology in the registration process for the national and local elections in 2013.
