LAGAWE, Ifugao, July 4 (PIA) -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) here is encouraging state workers in the province to join the nationwide photography contest with the theme, “Gawing Bayani ang Bawat Kawani.”

Jessica Tayaban of CSC-Ifugao announced Monday that the photography contest is open to all public servants/government employees regardless of appointment status.

Tayaban, however, clarified that CSC employees and all other government employees affiliated with the National Press Club (NPC) and Press Photographers of the Philippines (PPP) are disqualified to join the said contest.

Based on contest guidelines, photos should be submitted before or on July 16 at the CSC office together with the accomplished entry form. Each shot should capture the essence of public service at its best and must have been shot in 2011 onwards.

The size of photographs should be 8R size, color print, unmounted, and JPEG format file with a minimum size of 1MB in a compact disk (CD).

For a photo in which a person is recognizable, the photographer is responsible for securing permission from that person or in the case of a minor, from the subject’s parent or guardian.

“Photographs that are digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered for creative purposes are not allowed, however, minor adjustments including sharpening, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents are acceptable,” the guidelines stated.

Furthermore, entries will also be disqualified if photographs are submitted won in other contests; published in print or online; violate another person’s rights including but not limited to copyright; highly immoral and relatively obscene or in violation of public policy.

The criteria for judging are as follows: relevance to the theme - 25%; Creativity - 25%; technique - 25% and overall impact - 25%.

The first prize will receive a cash prize of P20, 000; second - P10,000; third prize – P5,000; and P1,000 as consolation prizes to other 10 chosen photos. Aside from the cash prizes and incentives, a framed certificate will also given to above-mentioned entries.
