Local official hopes to resolve soon land boundary dispute
KORONADAL CITY, July 2 (PIA) -- A local official in Tantangan, South Cotabato is optimistic that the land boundary dispute involving his town and two others will be resolved soon.
Tantangan Mayor Arnold Garingo said he expects, “the closure in boundary claims between the municipality of Tantangan with Lutayan and President Quirino town of Sultan Kudarat province after the second round of discussion by officials of disputing towns with the presence of some officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources here in region 12.”
The consultative meeting was held at the Barangay Hall of Poblacion Tantangan on Thursday.
Garingo said the three parties are raring to reach the final step in resolving the issue and avoid further bickering between residents in the disputed area.
He said a thorough study and comparison of the maps of the three towns will be conducted by their local assessors as well as the provincial assessors of South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat after these were initially presented at the consultation.
The resolution of the land conflict, he added, would further boost the town’s potential in agriculture, agro-forestry as well as residential development pushed by his administration.
Tantangan is a 4th class municipality of South Cotabato and is establishing its identity via ceramic products, pottery, brick-making, and clay blocks for construction materials. (ACA-PIA12)
