TABUK CITY, Kalinga, July 9 (PIA) -- The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced power interruptions from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 11 and 12 in the Kalinga and Cagayan provinces.

Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP North Luzon regional corporate communication and public affairs officer, said the power interruption on July 11 will affect areas covered by the Cagayan Electric Cooperative II (CAGELCO II), particularly Camalanuigan, Buguey, and Aparri.

She said affected areas on July 12 are the entire coverage area of the Kalinga-Apayao Electric Cooperative and the municipalities of Enrile, Faire, Piat, Rizal, Tuao, Solana, and parts of Tuguegarao city covered by CAGELCO I.

Gaydowen said that the two-day power shutdown is due to the replacement of selected woodpoles and cross-arms along Magapit-Camalaniugan 69-kV transmission line segment in Cagayan and along Tuguegarao-Tabuk 69-kV transmission line segment of Kalinga.

Gaydowen asks for public understanding, particularly from the customers of the distribution utilities, for the inconveniences brought about by these power interruptions saying that NGCP is doing these replacement works to make efficient power transmission.

“Normal operations will immediately resume after work completion. NGCP’s customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for this scheduled interruption,” she said. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR,Kalinga)
