TABUK CITY, Kalinga, July 29 (PIA) - - This new city prides itself of constructing multi-lane thoroughfares to address future traffic mess and boost economic activities.

Mayor Ferdinand Tubban said government has to move on equal pace with the urbanization of the city. “Investors and other businessmen will now have reasons to choose Tabuk city as their business hub,” he said adding good and wide roads are vital for commercial activities to succeed.

He said joint initiatives were made with the provincial government, office of Congressman Manuel Agyao, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the continuation of six-lane and four-lane roads particularly in the commercial centers of Bulanao and Dagupan.

“Construction of road shoulders on both sides of the Dagupan-Laya road making it four-lane had been completed from funds provided by the provincial government,” according to Oliver Gacuya, city information officer .

Kalinga engineering district construction chief Teodoro Owek said P34 million was programmed for the continuation of the Bulanao six-lane road from Bulanao creek to Baligatan creek simultaneous with the already bidded P14 million completion of a mega drainage along the same route.

The stretch from Carabao marker to Davidson Hotel and Capitol rotunda to Purok Uno had already been turned into four-lane roads last year.

“Establishing roads according to their standard width has also removed encroachers on road right-of-ways,” said Kristian Wandag, provincial legal officer , who heads the anti-squatting task force that remove illegal settlers along these roads. (PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
