Bayugan folks want more Diskwento Caravan
BAYUGAN CITY, Agusan del Sur, July 4 (PIA) -- Residents in this city and from nearby towns benefited from the mobile Diskwento Caravan and are looking forward to more caravans. Nine hundred ten consumers got more for less as they were able to buy more items for less pesos.
The caravan was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in coordination with the local government unit of Bayugan City, as well as the distributors in Butuan City and food producers of Agusan del Sur in order to address the rising prices of basic commodities.
Diskwento Caravan is a project designed to provide discount on the basic commodities. The caravan is the private sector’s opportunity to achieve effective corporate social responsibility through discounts.
Products offered during the caravan were bath soap, detergent bar and powder, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, frozen products, iron-fortified rice, distilled lemon grass, school supplies, and kakanin produced by Agusan del Sur producers. The discount ranged from five to 30 percent. The caravan generated sales of P143,422.
For the Agusan del Sur consumers, two caravans are lined up on October and December. DTI provincial office will give updates for the final dates and venue. (RER/DMS/Cirila P. Inson, Agusan del Sur LGU/PIA 13)
