Work in public offices, private sector resumes
QUEZON CITY, Aug 8 (PIA) -- The Office of the President has announced the resumption of work in public offices and private sector today, August 8.
“Even as the situation remains of concern for so many citizens affected by the rain and flooding, it is imperative that we begin returning to normalcy as soon as possible,” Edwin Lacierda, presidential spokesperson, said in a statement.
Lacierda said government workers need to report to their offices to aid efforts at rescue, relief and rehabilitation.
“Goods and services must resume so as to speed up the repair of damaged infrastructure, the circulation of goods and supplies throughout the metropolitan area and other affected regions,” he said.
However, the spokesperson also clarified that declarations of work suspensions in some national agencies and local government for today will remain in force.
"The declarations of some national agencies, such as the Commission on Audit, suspending work today, and announcements made by local governments concerning the suspension of work and classes in their jurisdictions, however, remain in force," said Lacierda.
He also urged citizens to continue demonstrating cooperation that “served us so well during the emergency.”
“Continue to remain vigilant, and aware of alerts and advisories from the authorities, concerning the weather,” Lacierda said.(PIA/PND)
