Girl Scouts in CAR installs new officers
TABUK CITY, Kalinga, July 8 (PIA) -- The Girls Scouts of the Philippine Kalinga-Apayao Council presented its new set of officers through a solemn installation rites held recently.
The newly installed set of officers is Presentacion Bartolo, president; Namnama Lumines, vice president for field; Christine Wangdali, vice president for ways and means; and Priscilla Daligdig, vice president for international part; Pansy Aquino, secretary; Rosa Garcia, assistant secretary; Margaret Balbino, treasurer; Rosa Felimon, asst. treasurer; and Shirley Fernando, auditor.
Also installed were Norma Brillantes as Commissioner on Administration for Kalinga is Schools Division Superintendent; Ronald Castillo for Apayao; Cynthia Rojo, Commissioner on Program; and, Betty Verzola, Commissioner on Training.
During the event,the new council president underscored the importance of accepting responsibilities saying that the, “best service is given by a volunteer.”
Officers like the presidents can’t be compared for “they work in different situations and respond to different demands of time,” she said as she asked the support of members to help her face the new challenges to strengthen the council.
For her priorities,first is to improve the financial status of the council towards financial stability to sustain the programs of the council.
Second is the recruitment of more members in the scouting movement which she said should start in the schools.
“We need to feel the presence of scouts in the communities. And this could be manifested through concrete programs such as environmental activities and clean up drives,” she said.
She also stressed the need to improve the campsite as part of her priorities.
To realize these, she called on all the scouts to do critical analysis and planning to effectively implement the programs. “Let’s work hand in hand with dedication and focus to realize our plans,” she said. (GGD-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
