20th National Youth Congress held in Dagupan City

DAGUPAN CITY, June 21 (PIA) -- Young leaders from various regions in the country converged in this city recently for the 20th National Youth Congress on Drug Abuse Prevention Education.

Wilmar Dela Rosa, officer of the National Youth Council, said this program maximizes youth empowerment to fight illegal drugs and to realize a drug-free nation.

He added that the program is apt as it inculcates among the youth the serious need to unite in one accord to eradicate this social concern which is affecting the younger generation.

This will satisfy the needs of the country for constructive and not destructive nation builders, he said.

A group of trainers and facilitators rendered the participants with an opportunity for positive discussions, structured learning activities, workshops and inputs. The delegates gained valuable insights on how to become potent partners of the government in combating the drug menace in the country.

They also experienced fun activities such as bangus harvest in a fishpond through the Amazing Race Team Challenge, Search for Mr. and Ms. National Youth Coordinating Council (NYCC) Ambassadors and the Talented Group Edition.

At the end of the congress, the participants shared the knowledge, skills and experiences they acquired from the congress. They as well swore that upon reaching their respective places, they will serve as advocates of an anti-drug community. (ANL/AMM-PIA 1 Pangasinan)
