Tuesday 7th of February 2012QUEZON CITY, Feb. 7 (PIA) -- National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) together with the Department of Education (DepEd) has started training teachers through the Special Program for the Arts (SPA) nationwide.
This program aims to give pointers on how to teach art in the modern times. “This is also a way to update the teachers on new art expressions,” NCCA Head of Committee on Visual Arts, Mr. Nemesio Miranda said this morning.
Recently, NCCA has conducted literary, drama and visual arts training for teachers in Tuguegarao, Cagayan.
There is a speakers’ bureau available in NCCA where schools from all over the country can ask for assistance if they need art trainors.
Miranda said, "The Philippine culture and arts are continuously being re-appropriated and processed." Training the teachers will help elevate the artistic consciousness of the students.
Miranda was a guest in the radio program Talking Points sponsored by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and aired live over People’s Television Network (PTV 4) and DZRB Radyo ng Bayan. (ASB/AS/PIA-GHQ)
