QUEZON CITY, Feb. 14 (PIA) -- Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala inspected an agricultural tramline system in Baungon in the province of Bukidnon (807 km. south of Manila) recently, a statement posted on the Department of Agriculture website said.
The Cabula Agricultural Tramline System, which was designed by the Philippine Center for Post Harvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), enables the easy transport of agri-products from Baungon, Bukidnon to the markets of Cagayan de Oro City.
The facility is part of the interventions of the Aquino government to Sendong-affected areas in Region X, the statement added.
Earlier Alcala witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among PhilMech, the Department of Agriculture in Region X, the local government of Baungon and Bukidnon and the Congressional Office of the 1st district of Bukidon.
The MOU officially transfered the management of the tramline system to the municipality of Baungon.
Alcala said the project, dubbed as Operation Sagip-Ani ng Baungon was developed as an alternative transport system for farmers’ agricultural products. (DA/RJB/JCP-PIA NCR)
