Makati training center produces Tesda-certified instructors
MAKATI CITY, July 20 (PIA) -- Eight graduates of the Makati Training Placement and Livelihood Consortia (MTPLC) have become trainers themselves after passing the month-long intensive trainers methodology training and competency assessment administered by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) specialists.
MTPLC is the city’s training arm that continuously offers free livelihood and skills training programs since its establishment in 2001.
In a statement, Dr. Edita Chan, MTPLC president and executive vice president of the University of Makati (UMak), said of the eight Tesda-accredited instructors, three are now teaching at UMak under the College of Technology Management; three are trainers at MTPLC; one is an instructor at the East West Placement Center, Inc., a Tesda-accredited training center; and the one teaches at Ethiopia, South Africa.
She said the eight TESDA-certified instructors are graduates of training courses in welding, electrical building wiring, automotive servicing, and food and beverages, and are all NC2 (National Certification Level 2) passers, one of the requirements of Tesda for accrediting instructors.
The MTPLC head identified the eight instructors as Danilo Bersaba, Renato Mamitag, Ferdinand Estrada, Edwin Limpin, Alexander Ramil, Eduardo Fajardo, Dante Feliciano, and Vanessa del Rosario.
Bersaba is a graduate of two courses at MTPLC – welding and electrical building wiring. He is now an instructor and assessment officer at EWPCI. A welding graduate, Mamitag now works as a skilled instructor at Ethiopia, Africa. The government of Ethiopia has adopted the Tesda program, offering its citizens entrepreneurship courses that focus on developing the skills needed to revive the community and generate jobs.
Estrada, Limpin and Feliciano, graduates of electrical, automotive servicing, and welding, respectively, are now working as instructors under the College of Technology Management at the city-owned University of Makati. Also hired as MTPLC trainers were Fajardo, Ramil and Rosario, handling trainees in motorcycle servicing and food beverages.
Makati City Mayor Erwin S. Binay congratulated the eight successful graduates of MTPLC.
“Congratulations to the successful graduates of the MTPLC who have leveled up and become trainers themselves. You have done us proud, giving inspiration to other graduates and trainees to also pursue a career in teaching to be able to share what they have learned from Makati’s premier training institution,” Binay said.
