Disaster managers to strengthen disaster efforts

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, July 10 (PIA) -- A briefing on disaster management and operational readiness of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council 1 (RDRRMC1) was held recently attended by Northern Luzon Command Lt. Gen. Anthony J. Alcantara, Office of Civil Defense Dir. Melchito Castro, Police Regional Office 1 PC/Supt. Franklin Jesus M. Bucayu and Naval Forces Northern Luzon Deputy Commander Captain Rommel Jude G. Ong.

Castro who is also chairman of the the regional disaster council, presented the Philippine Risk Profile and State of Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM), the gaps and lessons learned, and other related matters.

Castro emphasized the priority programs, projects, and current efforts being undertaken in the Region 1.

Alcantara, meanwhile, took to address the gaps/mistakes as well as provide the necessary actions to strengthen disaster efforts before, during, and after disasters.

Before the briefing, Lt. Gen. Alcantara was accorded with arrival honors led by PNP Director Bucayu followed by a meeting with the governor in the afternoon. (ANL/MPA-PIA 1, La Union)
