Power interruptions set in Ilocos Sur

VIGAN, Ilocos Sur, June 1 (PIA) -- The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has announced two power interruptions in the second district of Ilocos Sur affecting seven towns on June 1 and 6 due to annual preventive maintenance and repair of transmission facilities.

NGCP North Luzon Public Affairs Officer Lilibeth P. Gaydowen said Thursday that the affected distribution utility (DU) of electricity on June 1, 2012, Friday, is the sub-station of Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative (ISECO) in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur affecting the towns of Narvacan, Santa, Santa Maria, Burgos, San Emilio, Nagbukel and Lidlidda.

She said that the power interruption on June 1 will last for one hour from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

“The cause of the brown-out is the implementation of corrective maintenance by the technical men of our agency on the 69kV transmission lines along the towns of San Esteban to Narvacan,” she said.

The power interruption on June 6, 2012 is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. affecting the same towns.

She assured that the normal operations of electricity in the affected towns will immediately resume after the work completion.

“All affected NGCP’s customers and the general public are advised to take the necessary preparations and precautions for these scheduled interruptions. The specific towns to be affected by the power interruption are determined by the subject DU for maintenance, unless the activity affects the entire franchise area,” she explained.
