4.1 magnitude quake jolts Ilocos-Cordillera provinces
VIGAN CITY, July 12 (PIA) -- A tremor with 4.1 magnitude rocked some parts of Ilocos Sur and Cordillera provinces early morning today, Thursday but no damage to property was reported, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs Researcher Julius Galdiano said the tremor happened at 8:09 a.m. with epicenter at four km southwest of Lagangilang in Abra with a depth of 27 km.
He said intensity 4 was felt in Bontoc, Mountain Province; Lagawe, Ifugao; Balbalan, Kalinga province; Lagangilang, Bucloc and San Juan, Abra province while intensity 3 was felt in Baguio City and Candon City in Ilocos Sur.
The quake was tectonic in origin caused by the sudden movement of the fault line along Abra River. No aftershocks are expected, he added. (JCR/FGL-PIA1 Ilocos Sur)
