Gawad Guillermo highlight Diffun’s 2012 Pammadayaw festival

DIFFUN, Quirino, July 3 (PIA) -- The local government of this municipality began the four-day celebration of the town’s "Pammadayaw festival” (recognition) yesterday, with various activities highlighted by the Gawad Guillermo and barangay incentives and awards.

The awards are tributes to outstanding citizens, organizations and barangay officials, held in this event of the 62nd founding anniversary of the town.

The Gawad Guillermo awards, named after the town’s chief executive Mayor Marlo S. Guillermo, is a yearly event aimed at giving tribute to outstanding Diffunians in various fields.

This year, the recipients of the Guillermo awards are model students Cherry Pie T. Miguel (secondary level) of Diffun High School and Rodel C. Afan (tertiary level) of Quirino Polytechnic College; model pupil Precious Jane C. Guerrero of Diffun Central School; Outstanding Classroom Teacher, Angie Lyn S. Pallaya of Diffun High School; Model School Administrator, Maximo M. Padrigo of Diego Silang; Ulirang Pamilya, Mr. and Mrs. Gonzalo A. Ancheta of Aurora West; Outstanding Cooperative (Category A), Diffun Saranay Development Cooperative; and Outstanding Cooperative (Category B), Abrasa Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Under the Barangay and Incentives awards, the recipients are the following: Outstanding Punong Barangay, Nenilda M. Pascua (Aurora West); Outstanding Sangguniang Barangay, Aurora West; Lupong Tagapamayapa, Aurora East; Citizen’s Charter, Aurora East; Barangay Peace and Order Committee, Isidro Paredes; Barangay Tanod Team, Andres Bonifacio; Barangay Public Information and Action Center, Aurora West; Bantay Kalusugan, San Antonio; Environment Friendly, San Antonio; Outstanding Barangay Treasurer, Noralie S. Caluya (Dumanisi); Secretary, Bernardo A. Salum (Rizal); and Barangay Tanod Antonino A. Morales (Dumanisi).

Other activities during the opening program include awarding of Special Program for the Employment of Students checks by the Department of Labor and Employment, opening of Agro-Industrial Trade Fair, launching of the Nutrition Month, street dancing showdown and pre-pageant for Mr. and Miss Diffun 2012.
