Rice supply in the province sufficient during lean months - NFA
CABARROGUIS, Quirino, July 16 (PIA) -- The National Food Authority, Quirino Provincial Office assured that the province has a stable supply of rice during lean months.
Based on the report of NFA here through Manager Emmanuel L. Villanueva, as of June 30, 2012, it has a total rice inventory of 7,738 bags and total palay inventory of 6,058, sufficient to meet the demand of the consumers during the month of July until September wherein the farmers usually do not produce as much rice.
Villanueva said that for this month, they were able to distribute 772 bags of local rice to their 118 accredited NFA outlets operating in the six municipalities.
These outlets sell NFA rice at P27 per kilogram for regular milled rice and P28 per kilogram for well-milled rice.
Further, Villanueva announced that they have repaired and installed ton-per-hour Buivangco Ricemill located at the NFA provincial office at San Marcos here.
“This will help in the milling of our palay stocks faster to meet the demand of our clientele,” Villanueva said.
Regarding the NFA’s Industry Regulations activity, as of last month, a total of 33 grains businessmen were issued licenses and registration generating P68,799 in license and registration fees. (TCB/PIA 2, Quirino)
