TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Aug 7 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment-2 (DOLE 2) commended a company based in Cauayan City, Isabela for immediately granting separation pays and other monetary claims to 11 of its affected workers after one of its branches ceased operation earlier this month.

Attorney Erwin Aquino, DOLE 2 mediator-arbiter, said the company, which was not named, has requested the assistance of DOLE in handing monetary claims to affected workers last Friday, August 3 at the DOLE 2 office here.

The said workers who worked as drivers, carpenters, welders, and helpers received a total amount of P670,670 from the company.

The amount represents the workers’ separation pays, 13th month pays, unused leaves and salaries for the first four days of August.

“This is not docketed as a case because the company voluntarily asked our assistance. We commend them for their adherence to labor laws,” Aquino said after he administered the release of the claims of the affected workers.

Robert Soliman, who worked with the company for 19 years as a driver, received P145,291.

As a manifestation of complete and full satisfaction of the settlement, Soliman and 10 of his co-workers signed a document called quitclaim and release.(TCB/RBE/PIA 2)
