TUGUEGARAO CITY, March 2 (PIA) -- Officials of the Social Security System (SSS) have personally administered a regional information drive to update members on the system’s policies and members’ benefits.
Emilio De Quiros, Jr., president and chief executive officer, said the policies and benefits have been in place and implemented but there are lots of members who are not yet aware of them.
De Quiros, with other officials, met with representatives of different sectors who are members of SSS regionwide and discussed the mandates, thrusts, benefits and new programs such as the on-line updating system.
“The state is mandated to promote welfare of our workers recognizing their efforts in productive endeavors and to further improve by their conditions by providing benefits for their long years of contribution to the national economy that is why SSS was established,” De Quiros said.
The official intensively discussed to its members the type of benefits they can avail off and the qualifying conditions such as sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death, and funeral as well as the salary loan offering.
“You and your family are assured of social security protection against the hazards of disability, sickness, maternity, old-age death through cash benefits under SSS program,” he added.
He further urged members to update their records via on-line registration or visit SSS office near their places. Members are also encouraged to look into available benefits that they can already avail.
Member representatives expressed gratitude for the visit of the officials who educated them on the system’s programs. They requested for more information drive to clarify further other issues and concerns of members in the provincial level. (TCB/OTB/PIA-2)
