TUGUEGARAO CITY, March 4 (PIA) –-- To lessen expenses on the part of overseas applicants, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) region 2 will now  conduct pre-departure orientation seminar (PDOS) in the region instead of conducting it in Manila.

Elizardo Narag, labor communications officer, said it has been a practice that job applicants abroad undergo PDOS in Manila which caused much expenses on the part of the  applicants so OWWA is now conducting the seminar in the region, particularly in this city where the regional office and the facilities are located.
PDOS aims to prepare all job applicants for overseas job as to the nature of job as well as the cultures, and the things to be considered always while they are working in the countries they have applied to work at.
“PDOS is very important, especially to the first timers as this is an opportunity to educate them on the policies, regulations, cultures and on how to deal with the people that they are about to live with in the country they are about to go,” Narag explained.
As of now, OWWA is finalizing the first PDOS to be conducted in the region in coordination with local government units and recruitment agencies to disseminate information on the said program.
Narag also assured that OWWA will carefully examine the documents of the applicants to ensure that they are registered and documented overseas Filipino workers abroad. (TCB/OTB/PIA-2)
