DOH to distribute complete medicine package to 4Ps' areas
TUGUEGARAO CITY, August 2 (PIA) – TUGUEGARAO CITY, Aug 2 (PIA) -- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Region 2 said the health department will procure and distribute complete medicine packages again for the Conditional Cash Transfer-Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (CCT-4P) areas in Region 2.
This is done every quarter, said Lenie Perez, food and drug supervisor of the DOH in the region. Complete medicine packages have already been distributed to the 22 municipalities in the region since the last quarter of 2011.
Perez explained that the medicines are being downloaded to the Rural Health Units to be utilized by the beneficiaries of 4Ps who are considered as the most vulnerable sectors of the society.
“This was the P100 package before which was now called as DOH complete package given to 4Ps beneficiaries as we are now looking into the needs of the marginalized poor in the society,” Perez stated.
She added that non-4Ps are also being catered by the government through other programs such as the Botika ng Barangay and other health services by the health workers and health service providers.
The implementation of the said program is being monitored by the community health team in each barangay which is composed of barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, population coordinator and midwives.
Perez also said the DOH is constantly monitoring the implementation of the program ensuring that the medicines really reach the grassroots level. In 2012, the added 4Ps town in the region will also receive the complete medicine package in the future deliveries. (OTB/PIA-2)
