ECHAGUE, Isabela, February 25 (PIA) -- The Cagayan Valley Agricultural Resources Research and Development (CVARRD) is pushing mass production of goat to earn additional income.

ISU President Romeo Quilang said goat production is now being introduced among farmers as he has seen the marketability in the local market today.

“Goat is now one of agriculture commodity that is in demand in the local market today and the CVARRD is inducing the production of goats in the region using new techniologies," Quilang said.

He said goat is easy to raise as farmers need not to spend too much in raising these animals and is easier to raise if farmers will use new technology in raising.

Dr. Jonathan Nayga, director of CVARRD’s ruminants research center, said that as of today the value of goat meat per kilo ranges from P130 to P150 per kilo and the demand is increasing.

Nayga said the trend for the demand today of goat meat is increasing and farmers are urged to raise this kind of animal. (TCB/MGE/PIA- Isabela)
