ILAGAN, Isabela, March 1 (PIA) – The provincial government has allotted P14,890,586.35 for the continuing program on price support to the National Food Authority (NFA) Isabela.
This program aims to help Isabela farmers in the province to cope up and recover from their great losses due to the calamities that had hit the province last year.
Rocky Valdez, NFA Isabela provincial manager, said there will be 2,274 palay farmers and 2,165 corn farmers to benefit from the price support program provided that they will be selling their products to NFA.
Valdez said the P14.890 million budget will be used as an additional purchasing price to NFA’s present grain prices that will directly benefit the farmers.
He said the buying price of NFA is P17 per kilo of palay rice, which the provincial government has added P1 per kilo, and corn being P12.30 per kilo, which the provincial government has added P1.70 per kilo.
Valdez said that this year’s price support fund is higher than last year with P11.640 million and the NFA has targeted 113,725 bags of palay and 108,286 bags of palay under the price support fund of the provincial government this year. (TCB/MGE-PIA Isabela)
